Model Designations
Model designations of both Mercedes & Setra listed below. The first 6 numbers of the VIN identify the model series.
Setra in the UK market
Production of Setra for UK - Right Hand Drive markets ceased as Mercedes-Benz wanted to further develop their brand in UK markets at the point of introduction of the Euro 6 engines circa 2014.
Band bus companies in UK & Ireland have used the Setra 431 Double deck chassis for their work. The snag with these vehicle is that they are only available in left hand drive. Being built for the European market, these were available in Euro 4/5 variants and towards the end of the 431 chassis, these were available in Euro 6. The Setra 531 Double deck coach is the current available euro 6 model.
As these Setras are left hand drive,they must have a door fitted to the left of the vehicle to comply with UK construction & use regulations if they are to be registered in UK & Ireland.
